Structure and Function of the Escherichia coli Chromosome
These researchers study spatial patterns of transcriptional activity in the chromosome of Escherichia coli. Genes on the bacterial chromosome, as well as on chromosomes of any organism, are arranged in a certain linear order. How this order contributes to transcriptional regulation of groups of genes is the main focus of this work. The researchers use spatial transcriptional patterns to predict the state of DNA metabolism in the cell and to assess phenotypic outcomes of treatments and mutations.
