Barley, Wheat, Soybean, and Maize Genomics
These researchers use resources at the Computational Genetics Laboratory to study aspects of the barley, wheat, soybean, and maize genomes. Areas of interest are the gene expression profiles of barley and wheat during infection with Fusarium graminearum, gene expression profiles in barley branching mutants, and gene expression in maize shoot apical meristems and developing a gene co-expression network. Another area of interest is genetic mapping of loci in maize that control agronomic and morphological traits. The researchers are also mapping loci that control agronomic and disease resistance traits in barley. In soybean, they are using next-generation sequencing approaches to examine a fast neutron mutagenized population.
