Genomic and Epigenomic Analysis of Natural Variation in Maize
Heritable variation can be driven by genetic changes and can also include epigenetic changes such as DNA methylation. This group uses genomic approaches to study the genome-wide distribution of DNA methylation or histone modifications in different inbreds in maize. They also use transcriptome profiling to study how the differences in genetic or epigenetic information may contribute to differences in gene expression. MSI resources are used to analyze large-scale datasets to gain novel biological inferences from genome-scale data.
