Simulation of Magnetism and Magnets
This group calculates magnetic properties of technologically relevant materials using micromagnetic simulation, electronic structure theory, and finite difference time domain techniques. In particular, they predict recorded magnetization patterns, hysteresis loops, magnetic damping, spin transport, magnetic anisotropy, and optical beams produced by near field transducers. Currently, they use their own graphical processing units for most calculations, but find the resources of MSI very helpful to check the accuracy of their results, using a code written in another language than CUDA.
