Pattern Formation Outside of Thermodynamic Equilibrium
These researchers are investigating the transient evolution of complex systems held outside of thermodynamic equilirbium with applications to Soft Condensed Matter systems. Topics of current interest include: the formation and evolution of topological defects in modulated phases (related to block copolymers); Brownian dynamics simulations of the rheology of modulated phases including the effects of entanglement on orientation selection; and phase field models of nematic colloidal suspensions.
