MSI's staff includes consultants who specialize in various fields of science and engineering. Most of these consultants are part of either User Support Services or the Research Informatics Support Systems group.
The consultants are specialists in fields such as HPC computing, image processing, visualization, proteomics, genomics, statistics, data mining, bioinformatics, and others. MSI users can work with these consultants in resolving their problems.
The consultants also conduct tutorials and workshops every semester (Fall, Spring and Summer). You can find more details on our Tutorials page.
The Application Development Group assists MSI users by developing or collaborating in the development of software. Staff members have a wide range of software development experience. The group has skills in many programming languages, and has developed applications for computational proteomics, image processing, molecular simulation, web-based and mobile database interfaces, parallel computing, statistics, and many other areas. You may contact the Application Development Group to arrange for service by sending email to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by calling 626-0802 (8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday). Please see the page discussing application development services for more information.
Research Informatics Support Systems (RISS)
The Research Informatics Support Systems (RISS) is a program whose goal is to provide a high-quality, service-oriented research informatics infrastructure at the University of Minnesota and support transdisciplinary informatics research. The RISS program is ponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR).
RISS services to researchers are in four areas: Planning, Analysis, Data Management, and Outreach & Education.
While many of its efforts are invested in bioinformatics and life sciences we also seek to support research not traditionally associated with informatics or computation. So, do not hesitate and talk to us.
You may contact the RISS Group to arrange for service by sending email to email@example.com, with "RISS" in the subject line, or by calling 612-626-0802 (8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday).
User Support Services
User Support Services assists users in using MSI resources. Staff members have expertise in a wide range of academic disciplines as well as practical skills in areas including computational proteomics, image processing, visualization development, parallel computing, computational statistics, software management, and MSI labs management. You may contact the User Support Services Group to arrange for service by sending email to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by calling 612-626-0802 (8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday).
