Can I purchase dedicated resources for my research?
MSI provides over 125 million hours worth of computing and over 2 PB of data storage for free to University of Minnesota faculty and their collaborators on an annual basis (Getting Access to MSI). In some cases, UMN faculty are engaged in research that requires guaranteed or dedicated access to computing resources and data storage. Because the allocation process cannot guarantee access to resources, UMN faculty may purchase hardware that will be added to our existing HPC and storage systems and dedicated to their group’s use.
