How do I access an MSI Unix machine from my Unix machine?

Use any terminal program and connect to the MSI login system with the following command:

ssh -X username@login.msi.umn.edu

The -X allows X forwarding, which will allow you to launch graphical tools remotely.  Once you are on login.msi.umn.edu you can ssh to the MSI machine of your choice or you can use the isub command to request a node for your use.

If you'd prefer to connect via a single command (though you will need to type your password twice), use the following command after replacing the username and resource name:

ssh -X -t username@login.msi.umn.edu ssh -X resource_name.msi.umn.edu

Below are two demonstration videos.  The first video demonstrates configuring an NX client and using isub to obtain a node for computation.  The second video demonstrates using the ssh and isub commands to obtain a node for computation.
