Why can't I ssh into an MSI machine?

Connections to MSI systems can only be made from within the University network. If you are located away from the University, first connect to the University Virtual Private Network.

If you are experiencing continued difficulty in connecting to the servers, contact MSI Support (help@msi.umn.edu) and provide as much detail as possible, including: your IP address, the machine you are connecting to, the software used for the connection, the error message, and your MSI username. 

Please note that MSI schedules a monthly maintenance window every first Wednesday of the month; if you check the status page you can see if a given system is currently available.

Interactive Connections
