Tutorial Details: Illumina/Solexa Sequencing Data Analysis - Assembly and Mapping

Date: Thursday, November 4, 2010, 01:00 pm - 03:00 pm
Location: 575 Walter
Instructor(s): Zheng Jin Tu, MSI

Because of the extremely high volume of data generated by the Illumina/Solexa sequencing instrument, bioinformatics skills are needed to handle data and perform data analysis. This hands-on tutorial will help users get started with data analysis for Illumina sequencing data. We will use sample data sets to walk through the basic steps including converting qseq files into fastq files, quality control of sequence data, submitting jobs at the CGL, de novo assembly with Velvet, SOAPdenovo, and align/mapping with bowtie and soap, etc.

Prerequisites: Genomic sequencing knowledge
