Tutorial Details: Django: A High-Level Python Web Framework

Date: Thursday, November 11, 2010, 01:00 pm - 03:00 pm
Location: 575 Walter
Instructor(s): Nicholas P. Labello, MSI, Ravishankar Chityala, MSI

Django is a Python-based open source web development framework. Django's usefulness is derived from its ability to reduce the complexity of creating database-driven interactive websites. Django gives scholars familiar with Python a safe and secure entry point into web development by providing tools already familiar to Python users and removing the need to write raw Python, PHP, Java, Perl, or SQL codes. This workshop consists of a lecture on the key components and principles of Django followed by a technical demonstration where users will create an interactive website with Python.

Requirements: To get the full benefit of this workshop attendants should be comfortable working in a GNU/Linux environment and have some experience with Python. Familiarity with HTML is useful but not required.

Level: Intermediate
Prerequisites: See prerequisites in description above
