MSI Tutorial - Job Submission and Scheduling at MSI
This tutorial will introduce new MSI users to MSI supercomputers, and provide an overview of how to submit calculations to the job schedulers. Topics covered include creating job scripts, types of jobs, job queues, differences in available hardware, checking job status, and choosing an appropriate place to submit a calculation.
This tutorial will cover how to
- Create scripts and use command line arguments to submit jobs to MSI high-performance clusters.
- Select the right job partition to submit your jobs to
- Monitor your job(s) progress
- Diagnose issues with your job submissions
To be successful, you should have
- Knowledge of the Linux command line tools
- A login with a research group on MSI resources
- Your own laptop or other computer to test what you learn on your own experiments
