This workshop covers the basics of how to create and maintain your own software environments at MSI. This is useful in cases where MSI doesn't offer the software you need as a system package or module, or if you need to make custom changes to the software that are specific to your group's workflow. We will explore how to create reproducible software environments using the modulecmd tool alongside a variety of package management tools and build systems including anaconda, mamba, CMake, GNU make, singularity, and spack. By the end of the workshop you will have the knowledge to start installing and managing software packages for yourself or your group.
