Climate Research in Antarctica

MSI PI Peter Neff (assistant research professor, Soil, Water and Climate) is spending the next few months in Antarctica directing three field projects that seek to understand the evolution and future of Earth’s climate. Professor Neff is the director for field research and data of the Center for Oldest Ice Exploration (COLDEX). A story about this research can be found on the website of the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences: Behind the research: What the oldest Antarctic ice can tell us about climate change.

Professor Neff uses MSI to create high-resolution climate projection data and tools for use across a range of sectors in support of the Minnesota Climate Data Project.
