These researchers investigate novel immune mechanisms underlying inflammation in cardio-metabolic diseases such as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and heart failure. As the outcome of inflammation largely depends on the balance between the pro- and anti-inflammatory functions, strategies that modulate these pathways will provide avenues to manage the metabolic syndrome. This research explores the molecular and integrative biology of inflammation and metabolism with emphasis on the immune mechanisms that drive inflammation.
